mike donahoe, oklahoma kappa ‘62
Mike is a graduate of The University of Oklahoma in 1962 and went on to obtain his JD degree from Georgetown University Law in Washington, District of Columbia. Prior to college, he attended Portsmouth Abbey School in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. He served as a Colonel in the US Air Force and has been involved in the aviation industry as a pilot with 12,000+ hours flight time . He is now involved with Wings of Humanity, a non-profit organization that assists underprivileged children with free medical flights to hospitals anywhere in the US for free.
Joe laux, arizona beta
Joe Laux earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Arizona State University. He continued on to pursue a second degree in culinary arts from Arizona Culinary Institute. After three years in professional kitchens, he decided to take his financial advisors’ suggestion and get back to a role in financial services. He made this career change in 2005 to work with Northwestern Mutual, a Milwaukee-based firm that has been in the financial industry for over 150 years. Joe quickly moved up to a management role while building his own practice with individuals and business owners. During the summer of 2010, Joe transitioned to a position with Silverhawk Financial as a financial advisor so that he could service a broader spectrum of his clients’ financial and planning needs in a significantly more comprehensive manner. Today Joe works with physicians and business owners providing education and recommendations that have a dramatic impact on their financial future. Joe teaches at Banner Health in Phoenix, Honor Health in Scottsdale, and Dignity Health in Phoenix to the residency and fellowship programs to help newer physicians with their financial planning needs as they go through these stages in their career. He has also taught groups of business owners through the valley on topics such as business continuation, exit strategy planning, key man protection, buy-sell situations, and tax planning strategies.
Joe spends his free time with his wife and twp sons along with their two dogs in Phoenix, Arizona. He participates in multiple charitable organizations including Scottsdale Active 20/30 Club and currently serves on the board of Sigma Alpha Epsilon- Phoenix Alumni Association.
Dan Hinkson, Missouri Delta ‘78
Dan Hinkson is the Owner, Founder (1983) and President of Sigma Contracting, Inc. Dan oversees the daily business operation of Sigma, and is involved with various industry groups including Valley Partnership, the Arizona Association for Economic Development, Lambda Alpha International, ULI Arizona, CRENAB and a board member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Phoenix Alumni Association. He also is a partner with Global Specialty Services providing disaster recovery services after catastrophic natural events. He is also a partner in Shield Roofing based in Fort Meyers, Florida.
He is happily married for over 40 years to a childhood sweetheart – Melinda - whom he met in high school. Together they raised three awesome boys who have grown into accomplished adults, great husbands and exceptional fathers. When he’s off the clock, Dan enjoys spending time with Melinda, including visiting his kids’ families and grandkids, boating and jet skiing on Lake Powell, scuba and sky diving, snow skiing and Baja race car driving. Melinda and he enjoys traveling to new places and learning about new cultures. When time allows, he plays some golf, mainly in charitable tournaments.
Born in Youngstown, Ohio, and raised in St. Louis, Mo., he received college degrees from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo., and Arizona State University.
Dan pledged SAE the spring of his freshman year at Rockhurst….and has remained actively involved with SAE ever since.
Tom Healy, Ohio Gamma ‘06
Tom has been in the valley since graduation from Ohio University, where he was an IFC President and held leadership positions in both his chapter and the campus community - he is heavily involved in designing the recruitment initiatives for the national fraternity and owns an online education company in Scottsdale.
Bill Mahan, Arizona Beta ‘65
Bill, a third generation Phoenician, earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting at Arizona State University and was initiated into SAE with the original chartering of Arizona Beta in 1961. Upon graduation, Bill married his high school sweetheart, Janne, a Little Sister of Minerva, and started his career with Haskins & Sells, Certified Public Accountants, (now Deloitte Touche) in Los Angeles, earning his CPA designation in 1966.
After 5 years in public accounting, Bill transitioned to the corporate world, working as Assistant Controller, Controller, and Chief Financial Officer and CEO of both private and publicly traded corporations in California, Missouri and Arizona, until his transition to residential real estate in 2003.
For the last 16 years, Bill has been a Realtor with Coldwell Banker in their Biltmore Paradise Valley office, specializing in assisting buyers and sellers of residential homes in the Greater Phoenix area and enjoys spending his leisure time gardening, fishing, model trains and visiting his children in St. Louis and Nashville.
